13 fun things to do this winter

I don’t know about where you live, but here in Montana it often feels like we get nine months of winter weather. Every year I start feeling the blues and looking for spring and I have to remind myself that I still have a long way to go. In case you’re feeling a little cabin fever too, here are some of the ways we’re making the most of winter this year!

  • Make an igloo
  • Make a snowman followed immediately by a snow angel
  • Make an indoor fort and settle in with a warm drink and a good book
  • Work on projects that there’s never time for in summer (hint: make your list while the sun is still shining! Every time you come across something you wish you had time for, jot it down for these short dark days.)
  • Snowshoe, sled, ski or snowboard
  • Adopt a pet – you’ll have more time to bond & train!
  • Bake
  • Share your treats with a neighbor
  • Bring a thermos of coffee/tea to share with an elderly person in your neighborhood.
  • Master a couple of winter beverage recipes
  • Learn a new craft or hobby. I’ve introduced the kiddos to an old one of mine and have been taking them to the bouldering gym every week.
  • Plan your garden and…
  • Go ahead; dream about what you’re going to do with all that sunshine when summer gets here.
