Trinity: Revisited

The Trinity is so hard to understand.

Literally: incomprehensible.

Tonight, Nic and I were visiting with some teenagers about the Trinity. We were discussing how it works. Jesus is God, but he also prays to God.

WHAT?! Is he talking to himself?

So I started explaining it. And (not to get all pentecostal on you) but I feel like the Spirit helped me out on this one. I certainly don’t think I came up with it all by myself! After I explained to the students and they were like, “Oooohhh, I see!” Nic and I were both like, “Write that down!”

Here’s what I typed in my iphone after the fact. Maybe it’ll make a little sense…?

God is God. He is everywhere. He is all around us, but also His presence resides places. God’s Spirit was in heaven and everywhere else; at the same time He also put His Spirit inside a human body. Because God is God (everywhere!) he can be two (infinite really) places at once. Father in heaven and Son on earth. Same God.

It made sense to us at the time. Maybe you had to be there. 🙂
